Our Shepherds:

Sr. Hebraic Roots Shepherd

John McQuary has been the Congregational Host as well as an elder, teacher, and founder of Becoming One Stick In His Hand – Hebraic Roots Assembly in Houston, TX for more than 12 years   He has been studying and teaching from a Messianic/Hebraic viewpoint of Scripture for over 20 years.  He and his wife, Glenda, have been married for 43+ years, and have raised four sons.
John attended college and studied both Theology and Computer Science.  Before their wedding, John was already employed at a Fortune 500 company, working in the Computer field.  John’s spiritual journey began when he went forward and answered an “altar call”, at the age of 5 years old, made a Decision to follow the ways/instructions of the Creator of the Universe,  the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob, and His soon coming Messiah.  At age 14, John received his personal 'Call to Ministry' from YHVH, during a youth prayer meeting, after which he announced to his family his desire to visit the Land of Israel.  He did exactly that 1 year later, at the age of 15.  John continued his work in an evangelical church on a volunteer basis while he worked in the corporate world.  In 1985, working volunteer as an Assistant to the Pastor and the Co-host of an all-night Christian TV Live Call-in Program, the Ruach (Holy Spirit) called on John once again, this time to enter ministry work Full-time.  John awoke to the Hebraic Roots of the Faith about the year 2000, with the "Ruach solely" speaking to him as he studied the Biblical Scriptures portions found in  (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy), specifically, the Torah (the Pentateuch), “do this, this, and this… ‘through all your generations, as an everlasting Covenant between Me and You, no matter where you live!’”.  As a result, John let his evangelical minister’s license lapse in 2002 and went full into the messianic walk.  He is now an Ordained Ro’eh (Shepherd) and began a “new work” in 2008, in Houston, TX.  Presently, as the Sr. Hebraic Roots Shepherd, he teaches classes called, "Beginning Biblical Hebrew AND Intermediate Biblical Hebrew  for Research Purposes".  John strives to maintain a pragmatic and practical approach to ministry, and at the same time developing the heart of a Sha'mash (in Hebrew, a Servant).

Glenda McQuary - co-founder

Glenda McQuary is one of the Congregational Hosts as well as co-founder of Becoming One Stick In His Hand – Hebraic Roots Assembly in Houston, TX.  John and his wife, Glenda, have been married for 43+ years, and have raised four sons, Jason, Chris, Thomas, and Aaron.  When son Thomas married his lovely wife Christian, John and Glenda were both over-joyed to welcome their new daughter-in-law into the family!  Glenda helped raise the sons as a stay at home mother until the family was older and necessity required that she rejoin the workforce.  Glenda holds an Associates of Science degree in Accounting and has worked, most recently, at a single major corporation for over 30 years.  She has worked with Children at the Congregational level continuously since about 1980, and presently, in addition to her congregational host duties with John, functions also as the local congregation’s Children’s Shepherd, as well as the Children's Hebrew Instructor!!
